Ljubljana has joined the alliance of European cities committed to raising awareness of Heart Failure. Throughout Heart Failure month in May, iHHub alliance members the Slovenian Heart Foundation have been dedicated to increasing public awareness of recognising Heart Failure symptoms, treating Heart Failure and improving quality of life in those living with the condition. To this end they have coordinated a series of lectures, workshops, and media broadcasts.
On 8th May, the Slovenian Heart Foundation held their central event at the Prešeren Square in Ljubljana. They coordinated a cardiac screening event which included ECG, Blood Pressure, Ankle-Brachial Index, Blood Glucose, Cholesterol and Triglycerides screenings. An information fair was part of the event and included ten stands dedicated to specific heart topics including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation demonstrations and heart-healthy lifestyle advice from experts. Importantly, the Mayor of the Municipality of Ljubljana was present at the event to demonstrate his commitment to the campaign. This event along with their press conference held on 23rd April had significant media interest throughout Slovenia.
